The tour
In Alsace in December, night falls around ten to five, and the markets only come into their own from that moment. This tour does exactly that: it leaves in late afternoon and leaves you in two villages precisely during the hours they are lit. Riquewihr closes at 6.30 on weekdays and at 8 on Fridays, Kaysersberg at 8 from Friday to Sunday: the itinerary is built around those times, which differ from one village to the next and change with the day. You walk lit lanes emptied of the day's coach groups, a cup of mulled wine in hand, without having to decide who drives home. The format also suits a train arrival in the middle of the day.
